A Response to Charlie Kirk's Assassination
1 Corinthians 16:9
for a wide door for effective service has opened to me, and there are many adversaries.
1 Corinthians 16:13
Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong.
Evil is real, yet light will shine through the darkness of evil (John 1:5). The assassination of Charlie Kirk is a sobering tragedy. Kirk was a devoted follower of Jesus and a champion of freedom in Christ. He inspired countless individuals to stand against lies and darkness, boldly proclaiming truth. His rallies on university campuses were a courageous effort to win hearts to truth and resist evil intentions (https://tpusa.com/). Today, at a rally in Utah, Kirk was tragically gunned down by an individual driven by evil, anger, rage, and possibly other motives. Kirk had a wide door for effective service, and he seized that opportunity fully, despite facing many adversaries. May the Lord’s comforting presence be with his wife, family, and friends. Prayers are powerful and deeply meaningful in this time of grief.
Psalm 46:1
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
Psalm 121:1–2
I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
When evil rises, as it did today in taking Charlie Kirk’s life, some may cower or question God’s presence. Yet, Christians are called to respond with resolve: “Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong” (1 Corinthians 16:13). I urge you to speak out against evil while putting on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10–20).
Ephesians 6:10–13
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
This is a time to mourn Charlie Kirk’s loss, but it is also a time to “act like men” and confront the evil that seeks to “steal, kill, and destroy” (John 10:10). Truth stands on the side of light, and it cannot be extinguished; darkness will never overcome light and truth. The world needs your voice of love, truth, and courage. Pray fervently. Put on the armor of God. Recognize that the spiritual battle for light to prevail is real, perilous, and essential for our deliverance through our trust in Christ Jesus.
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.
As you grieve today, take time to meditate on Psalm 27 and Psalm 28 for solace and strength. May they comfort your hurting soul. Blessings.
